Dominica 2008 Creole in the Park – Grand Finale

Oh Creole in the Park, my only compliant is that you were too short – we found ourselves wishing for another day of festivities the moment the headliners completed their final notes. Though it may have ended too soon for my liking – Creole in the Park did end with a wonderful bang of fireworks display.

Dominica 2008 Creole In The Park - Day Three

The third day of Creole in the Park was surprisingly nice, despite the heavy rain which carried slightly into the latter part of the evening. Unlike day one and day two – day three for us was probably the most laid back, partly because it was raining most of the afternoon.

Dominica 2008 Creole In The Park – Day Two from the VIP Booth

Day two started with performances by the Cool Steel Orchestra, La Sal Differwans (cultural group), and by one of Dominica’s young upcoming bands - Xcess Groove.

Next on the main stage was Reggae star Nelly Stharre, who in my opinion rocked the crowd with a number of her mega hits like Peace & love and Soul Country from her 2004 album, entitled ‘Soul County’.

Dominica Development Group, LLC

Welcome to Dominica Development Group, LLC.

Dominica Development Group, LLC is the ultimate consultanting firm serving both local and international clients alike. The idea of this company came to reality after the collaboration of two entreupeneurial minds. In 2006, Miguel Murphy conceptualized the idea of extracting products and services from the Commonwealth of Dominica, the nature island of Caribbean and distributing it to the international market at an affordable price. Hilroy Samuel's idea was aimed at promoting and developing the investment as well as production services in Dominica with international and technological influence.

As the reality of this merger emerged, new ideas and possibilites were formed in hopes of broadening the service potential of Dominica Development Group, LLC. The merging of these ideas has proven to be a productive move towards Dominica's Development.

Dominica - Things to Remember During This Festival Season

As we all know Dominica is celebrating 30 years of Independence, and Dominicans are returning home from all corners of the global to join in the celebrations. In an effort to keep every Dominican safe the Ministry of Health and Police department are stepping up their game this season to prevent any major outbreak of diseases – likewise crimes during and after the festive season.

The Ministry of Health/Environment is kindly asking the general public to be careful of what they consume from roadside vendors.

Dominica 2008 Tourist Season Opens Today

Besides all the damages done to Dominica’s coastline by Hurricane Omar, the 2008 Tourist Season opened today (October 25th) as schedule. A week ago most people was skeptical whether or not the local authorities would be able to get the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth repaired in time to welcome the Emerald Princess - the ship of the season. But after lots of collaborative work by the Discover Dominica Authority and the Dominica Sea/Port Authority the Emerald Princess was able to dock safely, and hundreds of visitors were able to enjoy a the perfect tropical day. What a great day it was to welcome the new tourist season.

A heartfelt thanks to all guys at the Discover Dominica and the Dominica Sea/Port Authority who made a special effort to have everything ready, especially after all damages done by hurricane Omar. Thanks!!!

BPA Founder says: 'Don't boycott Met'

CALLS for black and ethnic minority (BME) community members not to join The Met have been criticised by a pioneering officer.

The Met Black Police Association (BPA), which aims to improve conditions for serving black officers, called for the boycott in a statement this week.

But former Detective Chief Inspector David Michael, who was the first black constable in Lewisham and founder and former chairman of the Metropolitan BPA, said the move was “disruptive”.

Mr Michael, who is also chairman of the borough community police consultative group,

He is paddling the length of the Susquehanna River and raising money for Dominica, an island in the West Indies that has fascinated Brockway for more than 20 years.
