Just one week after the official opening of the 2009 Carnival Season in Dominica, and National Carnival Parade.
Now one week later it’s the city of Portsmouth to launch their Carnival season with a grand opening parade along the Michael Douglas Boulevard and through the streets of Portsmouth.
For those who don’t know - Portsmouth is the former capital of Dominica and, with about 3000 inhabitants; Portsmouth is the second largest town of Dominica. It lies on the Indian River in the north of the island, part of the Saint John Parish. Cabrits National Park is located on a peninsula to the north of town.
